Arduino based display machine for Udk Journal.
“Creature I” is a vending machine that delivers the archive and the latest issues of the UDK Journal. Working with electricity and placed close to a collection of vending machines in the main hallway, Creature I reflects its environment in various manners. This vending machine’s materiality, functionality, and purpose reflect one of the UDK Einsteinufer building’s reasons for existence: enclosing the universities digital and analog archives. This space is where the university’s vital administration activities happen, among other academic activities. The omnipresence of glass and metal in this building, both reflective materials, inspires the outside construction of Creature I, where the internals are revealed.
